On Saturday, April 30, Hualapai Tourism will host an open-pit barbeque at Route 66 Park for the “Annual Route 66 Fun Run” put on by the Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona. Route 66 Park is located on the “Mother Road” directly across from the Hualapai Lodge in Peach Springs, AZ – the Hualapai Nation’s capital. From 10 AM to 2 PM there will be a 50’s DJ and live Native American performances. The meal will feature barbeque beef and a variety of side dishes. The money raised during the event goes to fund projects for the Route 66 Park in Peach Springs.

Diamond Creek Restaurant, inside of the Hualapai Lodge, will be open for normal business hours to serve the hundreds of hungry Fun Run participants. Raffle tickets are being sold for a chance to win Hualapai Tourism products such as Hualapai River Runners (the only one-day Grand Canyon whitewater rafting trip) and a Helicopter/Boat ride at Grand Canyon West. The raffle will be done in the afternoon at the Fun Run Event in Kingman, ticket holders need not be present to win.

On Friday, April 29th, the Hualapai Cultural Center will be having an Open House from 4 PM to 6 PM where visitors can learn about the history of Peach Springs and discover the Hualapai Tribe’s culture and traditions. The Cultural Center will be displaying arts and crafts created by the local Hualapai children. Hualapai Tourism will award 15% off coupons for the Diamond Creek Restaurant to those that attend the event, so they can enjoy dinner after the Open House. The Cultural Center and the arts and crafts display will be open during the barbeque as well.

The barbeque is aligned with the “Annual Route 66 Fun Run” but participation for that event is not required to purchase a meal. All are welcome to enjoy the food and festivities. For more information, guests can call the Hualapai Lodge at 928-769-2230.
