With a launch ceremony for the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games Through Train at Hung Hom of Hong Kong it started its journey to promote the 16th Asian Games alongside with local residents in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Dongguan and Guangzhou, and its mission to serve the Games.
Fang Da’er, Director of the Marketing Department under the Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (GAGOC), and Lee Waiching, General Manager of Intercity Passenger Services of MTR Corporation of Hong Kong, attended the launch ceremony and witnessed the debut of Asian Games Through Train which was renamed from the Guangdong line, one of the three through train routes which MTR provides intercity passenger services between Hong Kong and the Mainland with.

Viewed from the platform of the Hong Hum Station at Hong Kong, Asian Games Through Train measuring 246.6 metres long & 46 metres high and wearing the colourful outfit of Asian Games Emblem and Mascots shined with glistening glory.
It traverses through Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Dongguan and Guangzhou on a daily basis and spreads the Games spirit among 30 million along the tour from Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Dongguan to Guangzhou, being the largest mobile advertisement in the history of Asian Games.
A student from one Hong Kong junior high school said with great excitement at the launch ceremony: “My parents promise to take me to the Guangzhou Games later this year by taking the Asian Games Through Train.”
