With effect from 15. November, 2008, Air Berlin has canceled all flight orders in schedule air service for its subsidiary company dba. Starting Saturday, dba’s remaining six aircraft will only be utilized in ad hoc service. Schedule air service will be taken over by planes and crews of parent company Air Berlin. On Friday, several flights had been canceled or postponed due to a strike of over four hours by flight attendants organized in the labor union Ver.di. Additional strikes had been announced for the following week by a Ver.di functionary. Karl Lotz, Air Berlin board member in charge of flight operations, explained: „Because we want to spare our customers additional strikes, we canceled all flight orders to dba. Talks with the labor union and the employee representation regarding a socially agreeable solution for the flying personnel of dba are being continued. We are offering both pilots and flight attendants adequate employment opportunities at their present locations. We are planning to discontinue flight traffic conducted by dba by 30. November 2008.“
