KLIA2 , the new terminal at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA ) was especially designed for low-cost carriers (LCC ) in Malaysia and covers 257,000 square feet. This makes it the largest terminal for airlines with this kind of business model. KLIA2 sees itself as Malaysia’s airport of the next generation with seamless connections between low cost and full service carriers with a capacity for 45 million passengers a year.

The new terminal is connected with the KLIA Main Terminal via the ” KLIA Ekspres ” and can be reached in less than three minutes. This fact makes travelling easy and comfortable if the traveler from Germany for example wants to combine the international flight with a connection of one of the three national low-cost carriers . As well the new terminal has a good connection to the city of Kuala Lumpur, the transit just takes 39 minutes. The train leaves every 20 minutes in “rushhour” and in all other times every 30 minutes with four stops in the city and at the international terminal KLIA.

KLIA2 only opened this month and is serving the fast growing market of LCC. The first ten Airlines, serving national and international destinations, are Indonesias AirAsia, AirAsia Zest, AirAsia X, Thai AirAsia, Malindo Air, the Philippine Cebu Pacific Air, Singapurs Tiger Airways und Indonesias Lion Air. 60 gates, eight positions on the airfield, 80 gangways, 32.000 sqm for 225 outlets are taking care for a relaxed trip, e.g. to Langkawi, Australia, India, Thailand, China or Singapure. Malaysia was part ot the worldwide ten most favorite travel destionations according to the German Travel Association. The comfortable travel connections will certainly help to increase tourist numbers to Malaysia – also after “Visit Malaysia 2014 Year”.

This market is expected to grow by 14.1 percent in 2014. This year, 28 million tourists from all over the world are expected.
