The 19th EMITT Exhibition will place its stamp on health, winter and convention tourism 22 – 25 January 2015 in Istanbul
Rising to the ranks of becoming the world’s 5th largest tourism fair, the Eastern Mediterranean International Tourism Exhibition (EMITT) will further emphasize Turkey’s vast tourism potential in 2015 with three exclusive halls, dedicated to convention, health and winter tourism.
EMITT, the 19th East Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Exhibition, will take place at TÜYAP on 22 – 25 January 2015.

Turkey’s health sector receives recognition through EMITT
After its debut in 2014, Aydın attests that in collaboration with IDA Healthcare Alliance, b2b Medical Encounters and project consultant Ergun Güvenç, an entire 2,000 meter square hall will be allocated to health, aesthetic, thermal and SPA tourism at EMITT 2015.
Aydın emphasizes that health sector enterprises, including Turkey’s leading hospitals, clinics and thermal and spa hotels, will have the opportunity to meet with over 900 travel agency managers and more than 200 sector professionals at EMITT 2015.
Winter vacationers discover Turkey
Aydın reports that an entire hall will once again be allocated for winter tourism at EMITT 2015. Turkey’s main winter tourism attractants will have the chance to show off to leading winter tourism countries such as Austria and Bulgaria.
Aydın emphasizes that EMITT 2015 presents a great opportunity to introduce Turkey’s rapidly developing winter tourism headquarters and locations from Bursa’s Uludağ, Erzurum, Erzincan, Isparta, Kayseri, Kastamonu, Antalya, Bitlis, İzmir, Ağrı, Kocaeli, Bingöl, Gümüşhane and Kars.
2015 is convention tourism year
Ekin fair Director, Hacer Aydın, commented that a special hall will be placed for convention tourism in 2015 alongside those for health and winter tourism. She stated that Turkey’s outstanding talents and potential in convention tourism will be presented through a creative approach at the special hall assigned as MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) Lounge. The world’s and Turkey’s leading MICE professionals, event companies, and convention hotels and centres are invited.
Aydın states that the objective is to bring together domestic and foreign event purchasers. She added that they have already started taking requests for stands for the 2015 exhibition.
Turkey’s rise in convention tourism
Aydın highlights that convention tourism is one of those fronts which successfully attracted a total of 1.918.179 visitors in 2012.
According to International Conference and Convention Association (ICCA), Turkey ranked 14th in Europe and 23rd worldwide in a total of 159 international event Aydın noted that Istanbul along with Antalya, Izmir and various others in Turkey have a potential far beyond what is reflected in the cities infrastructure, geography, culture and historical background.
Aydın points out that Istanbul is an ideal convention tourism city. The city has the capacity to host from 100 to 30,000 visitors as well as being able to accommodate thousands of delegates at its seven major international exhibition centres and three large performing arts centres. She further emphasizes that as of the years 2011-2012, the International Conference and Convention Association (ICCA) has avowed Istanbul as the leading convention destination.
