Berlin Air Show will now be held in spring again. Discount for early bookings made by 31 October 2013
ILA stand at the Paris Air Show (Hall 2c-CD-368)
From 20 to 25 May the ILA 2014 will feature advanced technology from all areas of the aerospace industry. The organisers of the coming ILA Berlin Air Show are preparing a clearly defined program and layout for this international aviation and space exhibition.
The German Aerospace Industries Association (BDLI) and Messe Berlin GmbH will ensure that current market developments aree reflected by all the various segments of the ILA. These will include “Civil Aviation“, “Space“, “Defense and Security“, “Unmanned Aircraft Systems“, “Equipment, Engines and Materials“ with the associated ”International Suppliers’ Center ISC (20 – 22 May)“, ”Helicopters” and the ”ILA CareerCenter“ (23 – 24 May). There will also be an accompanying program of conferences of the highest quality, including a number of major events on selected topics.
Dietmar Schrick, Managing Director of the BDLI: “Since relocating to Berlin in 1992 the ILA has developed into one of the most important meeting places anywhere in the world for the aviation and space industries. The expansion taking place in our sector forms a good basis for again staging a successful business event again in 2014 and for informing the public about technological progress and achievements, using some attractive exhibitions and display stands, a uniquely wide range of outstanding conferences on industry-specific subjects, and many of the latest aircraft, which can be seen on the ground and in the air.”
Stefan Grave, Director of the ILA for Messe Berlin GmbH: “By presenting the individual aspects of aviation and space within a concentrated area the ILA keeps walking distances to a minimum. This guarantees maximum efficiency for all industry representatives attending the Air Show. Efficiency is also boosted by the infrastructure of the new exhibition site, which was first used in 2012 and is now undergoing further expansion, with work being carried out in particular on the area immediately adjacent to the exhibition grounds.”
For the first three days (20 – 22 May) admission to the ILA will be restricted to trade visitors only. The public will be admitted on the weekend (23 – 25 May), which will include several hours of flying displays featuring aircraft of all sizes and categories, and also representing every era in aviation history. The venue is the Berlin ExpoCenter Airport, which came into service in 2012 when the ILA was first held there. It is situated immediately adjacent to the capital’s future airport BER and is connected to the new southern BER runway by a number of taxiways.
Exhibitors who apply by 31 October 2013 will be granted a ten per cent discount on the stand rental charge (this discount does not apply to displays of aircraft).
An overview of the various segments at the ILA 2014
ILA Civil Aviation
Even in troubled economic times civil aviation continues to fly high with innovative technology, ecological efficiency and improved fleet and traffic management in both flight operations and infrastructure. The ILA serves as an important hub for suppliers of aircraft, engines and peripheral systems, for airlines, airports and air traffic control, for banks and leasing companies, handling and the service sector, and also for political decision-makers. The main focus is on advanced aircraft, with numerous new programs in the single-aisle and wide-body sectors, as well as the latest trends in maintenance and repairs, the training of cockpit and ground crews, and aircraft handling.
ILA Space
Among the world’s aerospace shows the ILA has one of the largest areas devoted to space flight. Under the slogan “Space for Earth” all aspects of space are covered, from vehicle systems to space applications, manned space flight and exploration. The ILA Space Pavilion presents the European Space Agency (ESA), the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi), the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the companies organised under the project management of the German Aerospace Industries Association (BDLI). The Space- und Aeronautic World features the stands of international space companies and institutions. In 2014 the highlight of the comprehensive program of conferences on the subject of space will again be the Space Day, with its distinguished international participants. Once again at the ILA 2014 the “Space” segment is the ideal forum for the exchange of ideas and experience among companies, researchers, universities, users, administrators and decision-makers from space agencies and the political community.
ILA Defense and Security
Existing structures, changing deployment concepts and budgetary restrictions require the armed forces and the defence technology industry to find ways of closing any performance gaps with solutions that are flexible, effective, economical and creative. The topics covered at the ILA 2014 will show how these gaps can be closed effectively and economically. The dialog between politicians, the military and industry will focus on joint solutions for dealing with new threat scenarios. Airborne weapons systems will be presented on the ground and in the air. A special pavilion is being used to present examples of cooperation between industry and Germany’s armed forces, the Bundeswehr. “Conventional” topics such as maintenance, repairs and training are also important aspects of the ILA and its conference program.
ILA Equipment, Engines, Materials
The continuing demand for the latest ecologically compatible and economically efficient aircraft compels systems manufacturers and their suppliers to streamline the process chain in the development, manufacture and servicing of aircraft and ground systems. With its International Suppliers’ Center ISC the ILA provides the supplier industry with an ideal market place for establishing business contacts with OEMs and 1st tier suppliers. And as an exclusive feature the International Buyers’ Days offer ISC exhibitors direct B2B contacts with purchasers and development managers.
ILA Helicopters
Whether it is for transporting personnel or freight, for offshore or rescue operations, the helicopter market also faces new challenges. The ILA is a centrally located European marketing platform for the helicopter industry. The entire range of civil and military helicopters and every aspect of their deployment are on show in Berlin. The new developments in aircraft, equipment and components that can be seen at the ILA, together with the latest research and development findings, will be of particular interest to manufactures and users.
ILA Unmanned Aircraft Systems
Unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) are the fastest growing industry segment and are just beginning to demonstrate their versatility in Europe in particular. The integration of these systems into controlled airspace is a key prerequisite for the successful development of unmanned flight. In addition to the successful launch of the UAS Plaza in 2012, the growing importance of unmanned aircraft and systems is reflected by the adjoining hall area. This will feature vehicle systems, ground stations, sensor technology, flight control systems, training and simulation, and both civil and military applications for unmanned aircraft.
ILA General Aviation
Like the commercial sector, private and business aviation are facing new demands in terms of sustainability, ecological compatibility and economic efficiency. These demands apply equally to the aircraft on display at the ILA and to ground systems and airport management. From ultralights to sports, training, passenger, business and corporate aircraft, every aspect of general aviation can be found at the ILA 2014.
ILA CareerCenter
The aerospace sector is a key industry that is highly innovative and economically significant, and one that requires a constantly growing number of well qualified specialists, engineers and scientists, in order to improve its sustainability and competitiveness. The ILA CareerCenter, the world’s largest employment exchange for the aerospace sector, is an attractive platform for job-seekers at the ILA. By providing direct access to civilian and military employers, the ILA CareerCenter offers the best opportunities for anyone seeking employment in the aerospace sector. The representatives of companies and institutions can meet with young professionals, graduates, university and school students on the display stands and at the conferences, lectures, panel discussions and workshops.
ILA Conferences
The conference program at the ILA is an industry leader. With its outstanding symposiums, seminars, congresses and conferences, the ILA provides the world’s largest industry-specific program for the aerospace sector. The ILA conference program reflects industry policy and covers advanced topics of current and future interest in all relevant fields. The individual events offer excellent opportunities for in-depth networking and valuable contacts within the industry.
