The second largest german airline is flying every day from Berlin / Düsseldorf to Bangkok/ Phuket and they have a own office in the City of Bangkok.
For this statement Tourism-Insider has asked the Air Berlin headoffice in Berlin on tuesday afternoon ( 25.oct.2011).
But we have every hour new news, so the government just announced that Thailand will have a “ special Holiday” in the next five days so that the peoples in Bangkok and Thailand can look after their belongings and properties.
So a dam and dike is broken and a flood of 1,5 meter high water is coming into Bangkok. The Town government has ordered more than 30.000 people to go away from the streets and use the second floor of the houses.

Tourism-Insider:How do you see the flood in your area .How is your company infected ?
Air Berlin: Our company is so far not affected. Air operations and air traffic at the Bangkok airport BKK is not affected either. As of today, our flights operate normally. Our office in the city center operates normally as well but will be closed during the adhoc holidays from Thursday till Monday. Staff members of this office remain on standby duty during these days.

Tourism-Insider: What is your company doing ?
Air Berlin: There is no water in the city center so far. Our staff members in Bangkok are very aware of the situation and will react immediately if the situation worsens.
Tourism-Insider: Do you have any activities to help your passengers?

Air Berlin: We monitor and observe the situation very closely, we are in constant contact with the local authorities and the airport and will react accordingly to any changes of the current status.
