International Council of Tourism Media (ICTM) is to be launched this October as an organization representing different departments and types of the media in travel and tourism industry.

In the fastest growing international market today and the second largest market of the World, the Tourism, gives no worldwide organisation or an association for the different departments and types of the media. There is only one association for the Travel Journalist and Writers. They have only 180 Members and are not very well organised. There are a lot of discussions and problems in this organisation.

In today’s very fast World with a lot of modern ways of communications, there is an organisation missing which is working for all the different types of Tourism Media, like TV, Radio, Printed, online and for the freelance journalists. There is no possibility for young Journalists, especially in the third world countries, where they can learn how the media in tourism works.

The media for the whole Tourism Industry is a more and more important tool to sell and promote. Not only in the daily business but also the media and the industry needs a very strong cooperation, especially in a case of a crisis. A good and serious partnership can help to give the right news and information to the media. On the other side, the industry can use their “partner” for a serious information. This trustful, fast and serious cooperation has an existential importance.

With all these reasons in the mind, some dedicated members of the Tourism Media, have decided to establish a new Association for the media in Tourism: International Council of Tourism Media (ICTM).

Two Founders of ICTM Joachim Fisher (Tourism Insider- Germany) and Suat Tore (S&M Publication- Turkey ) met in TTM-Bangkok.
