Sabah has long since been a favourite destination for many a visitor. Its capital Kota Kinabalu is a travel gem in its own right and is steadily being recognized as a vibrant city in the regional travel scene. KK, as it is affectionately known, is also the starting off point for those heading out to scale Mount Kinabalu, internationally renowned dive spots, various islands, orang-utan centres and other attractions. KK is also home to the up-scale Sutera Harbour Resort with its two 5-star hotels, 14 outlets and day-and-night 27-hole golf course.
Helicopters are generally known to be a convenient way to travel, and offer a unique experience at the same time. Viewing a city by air is something else entirely as a seemingly ordinary aerial view is immediately transformed into a dramatic landscape. Helicopters reduce travel time when compared with most other modes of transportation (commercial airline travel included) as departure and arrival times are tailored to accommodate passenger requests and schedules.
SabahAir Aviation is a helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft company that offers flights in and around Sabah for those opting to travel by private charter. Various tour packages and travel arrangements are available from aerial tours of the mountain, to city joy-rides and transfers to various locations. SabahAir’s fleet consists of several Bell Jet Ranger and Long Ranger helicopters, a GAF Nomad 22B plane and a Beechcraft King Air 200 plane.
We would however like to highlight SabahAir Aviation’s most impressive piece of machinery to date, the stunning and sleek Agusta 109 Grand. A luxuriously appointed and fully air-conditioned soundproof cabin complete with plush leather seats, the Agusta not only looks better but it flies faster. A trip with a flight time of 45 minutes in a Bell Jet Ranger helicopter would take approximately 25 minutes for the Agusta – many would agree that this is a significant amount of time saved for those on the go.
With smooth design lines, a sophisticated facade backed by some of the best aerial technology around and a reputation of being the most successful in its class consistently over 25 years, it is no surprise that the Agusta is quite possibly the best way to arrive in style.
