Malaysia was among the Asian countries with the strongest rise in visitors from Germany in 2008. The Southeast Asian country was able to maintain this growth in visitors from the German market throughout the first two months of 2009, despite the global economic crisis.

In order to continue the positive trend, Malaysia is increasingly cooperating with its Asian neighboring countries and international airlines, while at the same time continuously expanding its tourism products. True to this approach, there will be several hotel openings in 2009 – Penang, for instance, will see the opening of Malaysia’s first Hard Rock Hotel in late summer, while the Bunga Raya Island Resort & Spa will be welcoming its guests in Sabah on Borneo.

Visitors to Kuala Lumpur, too, will profit from Malaysia’s product innovations. City travelers will have the opportunity to explore the capital of Malaysia at their leisure using a Monorail & KL Hop-On Hop-Off One Day Unlimited Ride pass at an unbeatable price. Flights from Frankfurt to Kuala Lumpur may be booked for an affordable 620 euros thanks to the new fee system of Malaysia Airlines.

Additionally, the long-time „holiday classics“ of Malaysia are in as high a demand among international visitors as ever. Penang, part of the UNESCO World Heritage and recently announced one of the most popular holiday islands in Asia, for instance, has yet another success to tell of: The New York Times and its readers voted Penang among “The 44 Places to Go in 2009”.
