Crossing the southern and eastern parts of the Black Continent in style on board the Rovos Rail: The Berlin tour operator “Lernidee Erlebnisreisen” has exclusively chartered the most beautiful train in Africa for two dates in the early summer. The first trip will lead from Cape Town across the various landscapes of the southern African steppes, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia up to the tropical coast of Tanzania, and the second trip will head in the other direction back to the Cape. Customers may book pre and post programs to the trendy metropolis of Cape Town or to the island of Zanzibar in the Indian Ocean. Quite possibly the best way to experience the exciting black Continent in the best way possible.
German tour guides (responsible for a maximum of 24 persons, each), an on-board program providing background information on the land and peoples, laundry service included in the fees and a German-speaking physician on board make for the customary “Lernidee” level of quality.
The Rovos Rail, albeit less than 20 years old, is already considered a legend. During this 18-day long “Cruise on Rails”, the train will become a rolling home for up to 72 passengers. Two restaurant cars in the Art Déco style, a parlor car, a lounge car, a bar, and an open viewing platform at the back of the train provide the elegant framework for a refined adventure across the south and the east of Africa. During the 10 days of the journey, passengers will reside in style in 38 mahogany-paneled suites of up to 16 square meters, with floor heating, shower/lavatory and air conditioning. Three nights of the journey will be spent in first-class safari lodges, and the first and last night in Cape Town and/or Dar Es Salaam in first-class hotels.
The route, spanning over 6,100 kilometers each way, has unique experiences in store for the “Lernidee” customers: Wildlife safaris and boat trips in the Madikwe game reserve and in Chobe National Park, home to the the famous “Big Five” and other inhabitants of the African Savannah. Breathtaking views await visitors at the thunderous Victoria Falls and in the impressive panoramic landscape of the Tanzanian Rift Valley.
