Air Berlin will be offering two new routes with the beginning of the summer flight plan. Starting from May 1, 2009, the second-largest German air carrier will be flying from Hanover to Stockholm for the first time, as well as resume its route between Stuttgart and Nice. The flights to Stockholm will be conducted five times a week at 10:45 a.m., with the arrival being scheduled for 12:25 p.m. Air Berlin jets headed for Nice will lift off at 02:10 p.m. every Saturday and land on the Côte d’Azur at 03:55 p.m.
Air Berlin will further be offering additional connections within the German route network during the summer flight plan. Flights from Nuremberg to Düsseldorf will be carried out five times a day, as opposed to the regular four times, starting from May 11, 2009. The route from Nuremberg to Berlin will be upgraded from three to five frequencies per day from June 15, 2009 on, the one from Nuremberg to Hamburg will follow suit by July 20, 2009. Air Berlin will be using recently delivered Q400s for the additional flights, each offering 76 passenger seats. The flights will be available for booking via Internet (airberlin.com), in travel agencies or via telephone at the Air Berlin Service Center (Tel. +49 1805 737 800) starting from February 5, 2009. Tickets will be priced at 29 euros for a one-way trip, including taxes, fees and mileage.
Air Berlin is Germany’s second-largest air carrier. Last year, the company transported a total of 28.6 million passengers worldwide and employed more than 8,000 people. In 2008, alone, Air Berlin was awarded ten times for service and quality. With an average age of 4.6 years, Air Berlin’s fleet is one of the youngest in Europe. Their modern jets exhibit a relatively sparing use of kerosene, allowing for a lasting reduction in pollutant emissions in air transportation.
