On behalf of the Venue Sector of the Business Events Council Malaysia (BECM), an appeal letter has been submitted to the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) to seek assistance in allowing purpose-built venues to resume operations and in extension re-open the business events industry in Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan (NRP). Currently, the business events sector is only slated to re-open in Phase Four.

Unfortunately, the search for more than 50 helpers and police officers was unsuccessful. The 56-year-old Florian Hallermann, GM of the well-known Zeavola Resort on Phi Phi Island in the province of Krabi in Thailand, was found dead yesterday afternoon.
The search team consisted of officials, the police, residents of the small island and employees of the Zeavola Resort.

TCEB and TICA have entered into agreements with three Asian convention bureaus; Seoul Tourism Organization, Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau and Taiwan External Trade Development Council to jointly promote the convention industry in Asia and work on a planned future establishment of Asia Convention Alliance (ACA).
The involved parties signed on September 2nd three Memorandums of Understanding – Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and Seoul Tourism Organization (STO), TCEB and Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), and between Thailand Incentive and Convention Association (TICA) and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).
