Mexico plays a significant role in the tourism and hotel industry globally. According to the World Tourism Organization, Mexico ranks among the most visited countries worldwide with 32.1 million international arrivals in 2015. Tourism is a huge source of revenue for the economy of Mexico. The country has a strong appeal for inbound tourism, mainly from the american neighbors United States and Canada.The country offers more than 30 UNESCO World Heritage and Natural Sites. Favored places for visitors are of course the beautiful beaches of Cancún, Cabo San Lucas and Los Cabos as well as the historical Mexico City and the Mayan Metropolis Chichén Itzá.
The TOPHOTELPROJECTS database counts currently 77 hotels in the pipeline. During 2017 the country is looking forward to add almost 7,000 new rooms to the market. Cities to look at are especially Cabo San Lucas with 9 new hotels and Cancún with 6 hotels in the pipeline.
Hilton Worldwide recently announced their plan to expand the group’s presence in the Latin American country with nine new hotels.
