Nearly three quarters of these new hotels are under construction right now, a good sign for the 28 hotels that are projected to open in this year alone. This years openings will count for over half of the total, with 13 more to open in 2018, 8 in 2019 and 4 to be announced in the following years. The group can be confident that these openings will bring renewed success, as they have just celebrated record profits for 2016. The parent group has also been increasing its Holiday Inn and Hotel Indigo brands of late, moves which are in keeping with the continued expansion of the group’s most popular names.
As could maybe have been predicted, the most investment will be seen in the Asia Pacific market, which will see 23 new hotels give 7,004 new rooms to the region. Asia Pacific has proven to reliable in an ever-more challenging industry, and tourism continues to boom in the area. Africa will get 5 new InterContinental hotels, lagging somewhat behind Europe and the Middle East, which will both benefit from 9 new IHG hotels each, averaging about 2500 rooms respectively. 8 new hotels will open in North America with a total key-count of 3,217.

InterContinental Bali Canggu Resort
