The French hotel chain Accor announced that it will invest approximately $100 million in the construction of ten new Ibis hotels in Ecuador. An official presentation of the Project was held by the French chain, Ecuadorian authorities and entrepreneurs. Ecuaresorts will be the representative of the franchise in Ecuador.
The Project will start in July with the construction of the first of ten hotels: The Hotel IBIS Quito, which aims to open its doors in July 2016. It will continue with the construction of a hotel in Guayaquil, which is planned to be ready by 2017, and two more in Santo Domingo and Machala. A total of ten hotels will be built in Ecuador with an investment of approximately 10 million dollars per hotel.

It was announced that Hotel Ibis Quito will have 133 rooms, it will be located in the streets Diego de Almagro and Belo Horizonte, and they estimate that its construction will generate around 300 direct jobs and 600 indirect jobs.

The Ecuadorian government plans to invest $600 million dollars in tourism during the next 4 years, compared 40 million dollars invested in 2013.

The Ibis franchise belongs to the Accor group, which has a total of one thousand Ibis hotels in 45 countries around the globe. However the Accor group is already present in Ecuador with its hotel Mercure Alameda Quito, located in the country’s capital.
