Statement from Mr. Alex Willats; Acting GM of Dusit Thani Bangkok.

How is the flood situation in and around your hotel?
Dusit Thani Bangkok and the surrounding area is at present safe and dry from flood water. The majority of water drainage experts in Thailand expect it to remain this way but in the unlikely event that the waters do reach our hotel we have taken every precaution to assure the comfort and safety of our guests. We have erected a one metre high barrier surrounding the hotel, installed water pumps and employed an extra team of security and engineering staff to assure the hotel’s safety and machinery remain unaffected.

How is the situation at your home and how do you travel to work?
I live within the hotel so as yet remain unaffected. However, all BTS lines (Bangkok’s elevated rail system) and the city’s MRT (subway) system are operating as per normal.

How is the F&B situation? Do you have enough food and water?
At present all eight of our food and beverage outlets are operating as per normal with promotions and special offers unaffected.
Our popular Italian il cielo restaurant is running a special offer throughout November with all listed items at only THB 190++ including one glass of soft drink.
The Pavilion restaurant continues to attract a steady flow of customers with our special ‘Come as a Group of Three and Pay for Two’ offer.
Lunch is only THB 970++ per person and dinner is THB 1,390++ per person – Saturday till Wednesday. From Saturday to Wednesday gourmands can indulge in a buffet dinner of mouth watering Maine lobster, decadent foie gras plus free flowing Chardonnay, fresh juice and soft drinks for only THB 1,699++ per person.
Sunday Brunch at The Pavilion offers children under 10 a 50% discount with costs for adults at a favourable THB 1,888++ including free flowing house wine and cocktails.
Our plans and preparations for the festive season also remain unaffected by the flood crisis.

And of the future, what is your opinion in relation to the economic effects of the floods?
Undoubtedly, the flood will leave Thailand with a lot of rebuilding work to be done. But this is a resilient country and Thailand’s tourism sector has proved time and again its ability to bounce back from hardship. Thailand will remain one of the safest and most welcoming destinations for tourists in Asia. We also create very special rates during the flood to support people.
