Improved connections open up new flight options

airberlin will be launching a comprehensive range of flights to Croatia this year. Germany’s second largest airline made the announcement in Zagreb on Tuesday. From 3 May to 11 October 2011, the airline will be operating 34 non-stop flights between Germany and the Adriatic holiday regions every week, providing an increased service during both the high and low holiday seasons.

“We want to expand our tourist service and address new target groups for Croatia,” said Christian Lesjak, Executive Vice President Sales Scheduled Services at airberlin, during the press conference at the Croatian Tourist Board. He specifically mentioned the watersport activities available in the area, the increased number of short breaks on offer and the growing interest in Croatia among European travellers.

The new flight schedule includes nine weekly flights from Düsseldorf, Cologne/Bonn and Münster/Osnabrück to the port town of Rijeka. Dubrovnik, in the south of Croatia, is serviced by four flights per week from Munich and Stuttgart. Four flights from Nuremberg and Stuttgart will also land in Split each week. These direct services are supplemented by almost 70 connecting flights from other German cities and the airline’s Düsseldorf hub.
