Mr. Nitinai Sirismatthakarn, Senior Executive vice president in Business Development and Marketing of AOT Airports of Thailand Public Company Ltd., discloses AOT´s development plan to develop the AOT´s quality services and improve its management of all six airports to meet the international standard in both safety and amenities during the Incentive Travel & Conventions meetings Asia and Corporate Travel World Asia Pacific at Bangkok Convention Centre, Central World.
“ The development and improvement are to ensure our progress in becoming the world´s leader in the airport business or at least the best in our category. Therefore, at the earlier stage of the development plan , AOT is developing the plans to launch Suvarnabhumi Airport and Phuket International Airport as the Regional Hub for Southeast Asia”, Mr. Nitiani says.
On the 24th. August 2010, the Cabinet has approved the budget of 62,5 billion bath to implement the Suvarnabhumi Airport Development during the fiscal year 2011 – 2016 to serve the growing number of passengers. The development, including the addition of 28 contact gates, has consisted to design and construct the first midfield satellite, South tunnel extension and automated people mover, the main terminal extension, parking garage and airline office and utilities.
After the completion of the development, Suvarnabhumi Airport will have a capacity to handle 60 Million passengers per year, of which 48 millions are internationals and 12 millions are domestics.
Mr. Nitinai adds since number of the flights and passengers at Phuket international Airport has continued going upward, this is evidence that Phuket Int. Airport is one of the airports where the passengers and airport users have used as the second airport after Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Therefore, AOT has seen the potentiality to develop Phuket by launching a five-year Development project during July 2010 and September 2013. This project with cost 5,8 billion bath will create and improve all facilities of Phuket international Airport to be the sufficient, safe, convenient and fast while AOT will construct the passenger terminal, car parking building, public utility system and service road.
When the project is completed, the potential will be increased to accommodate passenger up to 12,5 million per year which will be the international passengers of 5 million and domestic passengers of 7,5 million. The new capacity is expected to be fulfilled the passengers until the year 2020.
AOT has reduced the landing fee by 15 % and halve parking fee for every flight for 9 month.
Mr. Nitinai adds beside the above mention marketing incentives, AOT has also created airport alliance in the form of Sister Airport Agreement to initiate marketing collaboration as well as business information and resource exchange. Now AOT has already signed the agreement with Munich International Airport, Incheon International Airport and narita International.
