The second largest German airline now has its own app that also allows passengers to discover Air Berlin using their iPhone. The check-in process in particular will be made even easier with the new app. The boarding pass is sent to the iPhone as an SMS, MMS or e-mail and can then be stored as a barcode. When checking in, passengers only need to scan in the barcode on their iPhone, thereby saving valuable time. The paperless check-in also helps the environment, because it saves natural resources. Members of the topbonus frequent flyer programme can use a separate login function that provides a check-in summary for all bookings made.
An innovative special-offer site makes the customers’ search for a suitable destination both entertaining and informative. In addition to conventional search filters, such as the date or the price range, the site caters for other parameters, including a holiday category (city break, beach, golf etc.), or even the temperature at the destination. The iPhone app also tells passengers how far they are from the nearest airport, what the average temperature is at the selected destination or the distance between the points of departure and arrival. Passengers who are still unsure which Air Berlin destination to choose will also benefit from the new app. Photo galleries with images of all the available destinations throughout Air Berlin’s worldwide route network create a holiday mood and help customers select the right destination.
The app is available as a free download from the Apple App Store.
