Quantum Hotels and Resorts, a leading condominium hotel and resort property management company in the region, in an announcement today, projected that occupancy on managed CondoHotels and CondoResorts in the Philippines will moderately increase by 2 percent in 2009.  Based on an average annual occupancy of 83 percent in 2008, the 2 percent target growth will provide an average occupancy of 85 percent for the group throughout 2009.

(Heiligendamm, Februar 03, 2009) Today, Kempinski withdrew from its management contract with Grand Hotel Heiligendamm & Co KG, effective immediately. Reasons stated are breaches of contract and failure to pay the management fees of the last two years. In its withdrawal, Kempinski stated that the owner’s continuous interference in hotel operations had obstructed them in their function of effectively exercising their internationally acclaimed expertise in the management of luxury hotels in order to manage the hotel in an economically solid fashion.

The second-largest German air carrier, Air Berlin, plans to reduce its kerosene consumption, pollutant emissions and noise exposure by utilizing a software system to carry out optimal landing approaches. The new system called SafeRoute, based on ADS-B technology (Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast), will help adjust the velocity of incoming aircraft in a way that allows for maintaining optimal distances between planes even on airports with high levels of traffic. This will soon make it possible to avoid cases where pilots used to be ordered to fly holding patterns in order to join the queue of waiting aircraft.
