Best Western Premier Hotel Rebstock in Würzburg is the world’s first hotel to be awarded the Good Catering Practice Certification by Intertek. With it, the first-class hotel now boasts a seal of approval attesting to its exceptional catering standards in addition to its various past awards.
Best Western Premier Hotel Rebstock in Würzburg was the world’s first hotel to be certified in accordance with the Intertek Good Catering Practice Standard in mid September. “The GCP seal of approval takes into account the entire procedure from receipt of goods to the finished product, thereby ensuring a higher level of security and trust,” explains Dr Jochen P. Zoller, president of Intertek Food Services.
Intertek is a leading provider of quality and security solutions for a wide range of industries worldwide. GCP is a new seal of approval that incorporates guidelines for quality insurance which go beyond the legal requirements – for increased security and optimized internal procedure. The certification is intended mainly for restaurants, hotels, catering businesses, and community catering facilities such as at kindergartens and hospitals. Establishments are assessed against criteria such as staff hygiene, storage conditions, waste management, proficiency of personnel and temperature control.
The Best Western Premier Hotel Rebstock had volunteered to be the pilot establishment and will continue to face the returning audits and samplings in order to ensure lasting quality and security in the future. “We want to meet our guests’ increasing desire for more security. Especially in times of ever more frequently emerging allergies and food intolerances, quality has become the most decisive criterion for many guests,” elaborates Christoph Unckell, General Manager of the Würzburg first-class hotel, on their motivation to partake in the certification.
The establishment is being supported by Quant Qualitätssicherung GmbH which offers training and advice in matters of quality management and has assisted the hotel in establishing its new security system.
