The hotel introduced as „Travel Charme Hotel Is Arenas“ will no longer be managed by Travel Charme Hotels & Resorts AG – Travel Charme AG states impending damage to their image and divergencies on standards and quality as reasons for this action. They announced their withdrawal from the management contract with the owners and operators of the realty development of the Is Arenas plot on Sardinia.
This decision was largely influenced by a complaint by the European Union towards the Republic of Italy regarding a breach of the EU habitat policy in their development of the EU protect zone Is Arenas. The complaint and the related negative coverage of the protect zone Is Arenas are severely threatening the image of the hotel group.
In addition, there had been significant divergencies between Travel Charme Group and the owners of the development project during the construction and opening phase of the hotel. Travel Charme Group believed that delays in the construction of the resort and differing views on quality standards, philosophy and strategic orientation were threatening the hotel’s entrepreneurial success and competitive capacity. The issues regarding environmental laws and the no longer surmountable differences led Travel Charme Group to withdraw from the Is Arenas project.
„The separation was a necessary step. We exhausted all possible alternatives, but there was no satisfying agreement in sight. Our priority at present is the communication with our esteemed business partners involved in this hotel project and cooperating with us. We will have to explain to them that we were not willing to make compromises regarding our high standard of quality and thus had to put the brakes on. Where required or requested, Travel Charme will continue to stand by its partners after the withdrawal“, said Giuliano Guerra, delegate of the administrative board of Travel Charme Hotels & Resorts AG.
Travel Charme Hotel Is Arenas was opened on June 01, 2008 as a 5-star hotel in the midst of a 750 hectare pine forest on the Sinis peninsula on the west coast of Sardinia. In addition to 61 rooms and suites, the range of offers was meant to be completed by a spacious spa and a beach club.
Travel Charme Hotels & Resorts AG, based in Zurich (Switzerland), is currently managing eleven properties in the quality and premium segments of the 4 to 5-star superior categories under the brand of Travel Charme. More information at www.travelcharme.com.
