The management of Sutera Harbour Resort, located in the Malaysian state of Sabah on the island of Borneo, is setting its sights on the European travel market, with a special focus on MICE guests.
For this reason, tourism marketing and communication expert Joachim Fischer, Berlin, was appointed new GSA and representative.
Boasting a 27-hole golf course, two 5-star hotels, its own marina and a historic steam locomotive, 14 restaurants and five resorts in the wildlife sanctuary of famous Mt Kinabalu, the company is the ideal choice for MICE events.
It is also a true holiday paradise for individual travelers and families with children, offering not only various swimming pools, but also an in-house nursery school. The open air restaurants, in particular, will make for a pleasant time for both, children and parents, featuring a vista of the pool and the sea.
Among the various experiences for guests, the ten-minute boat ride from the marina to Manukan Island stands out in particular. The island is a wildlife sanctuary, and white sandy beaches invite visitors to go swimming – starting from 5 p.m., guests will get the chance to feel like Robinson Crusoe (with international 5-star service, mind you), for at that time, the island is officially being closed off, allowing for romantic dinners at the beach – not only for newly found lovers – or enjoying the beautiful sunset over the sea from one of the beach villas.
Joachim Fischer was appointed on March 1, 2009, and will already take first action at ITB in Berlin. The trade fair IMEX in Frankfurt, to take place in May, will be used to promote this „paradise“ in the MICE segment.
In fall, the Sutera Harbour Resort Representative for Europe will be organizing his very own special themed trips to Kota Kinabalu. There are plans for golfing trips, adventure tours in the natural preserve and at Mt Kinabalu, Asian cookery courses and excursions to the various tribes of the indigenous people. 84 dialects are, in part, still being spoken today by 63 different tribes.
