The Popkomm, which used to take place on the Berlin fair grounds, has found a new venue in central Berlin with the former Dresdener Bahnhof by the rail triangle. From September 16 to 18, the Popkomm exhibition and convention will take place in the halls of „STATION-Berlin“ near Potsdamer Platz. Participants of Popkomm can initiate business, sign contracts and discuss responses to the challenges for the industry on an area of around 9,000 square meters. Good music can be discovered in the nearby clubs during the Popkomm festival.
The proximity to the about 30 participating venues and the centrality of „STATION-Berlin“ have convinced Katja Gross, Director of Popkomm: „In 2009, we want to further establish the networking mindset, a core capacity of Popkomm, and create space with a hall concept in order to bring together supply and demand, both country specific and industry specific. Short distances are extremely important for all participants wishing to make use of their time at Popkomm as efficiently as possible. Attending Popkomm will be easier than ever. In addition, the halls offer a wonderful ambience. It is as if this location were specifically tailored to a creative line of business such as the music industry.“
Dr. Ralf Kleinhenz, Executive Director of Popkomm GmbH, adds: „The new location is not the only innovation. Popkomm will, again, take place from September 16 to 18 this year. We are maintaining close contacts with the industry, and after various conversations with Popkomm participants, we are granting their wish for a date earlier in the year. Due to the very limited space on the fair grounds, an external location is the only way to guarantee the appointed date in September in the long run.“
Participants of Popkomm can personally take a look at the improvements in the middle of September. Popkomm’s new internet presence is already available with recent and expanded web contents at www.popkomm.com.
