Niagara Parks has announced the grand opening of its groundbreaking new attraction, Niagara Takes Flight, set to launch on August 29 at Table Rock Centre, located at the brink of the Horseshoe Falls. This $25 million flying theatre experience is the first of its kind in Ontario and only the second in Canada, following Vancouver.

The ride offers guests a thrilling 56-kilometre aerial journey over Niagara’s most iconic landscapes, enhanced by cutting-edge drone cinematography and a massive 180-degree domed screen. Visitors will be suspended in gondola-style seating and immersed in sensory effects including wind, mist, and scent, while soaring inches away from the powerful Niagara Falls. The attraction features narration by legendary filmmaker James Cameron, who was raised in Niagara Falls and worked for the Niagara Parks Commission at age 16. Cameron lends his voice to the pre-show’s “Waterfall Room,” which explores the post-contact history of the region. The experience begins with a digital waterfall entrance and guides guests through four storytelling rooms that span 13,000 years of history, including Indigenous creation stories brought to life through animated artwork by Turtle Clan and Mohawk Nation artist Sara General.

Creative direction was led by Disney Imagineer Rick Rothschild, known for Soarin’ Over California, and the ride was developed by Brogent Technologies, global leaders in flying theatre attractions. Niagara Takes Flight will operate daily from 9am to 10pm, with tickets priced at $29 for adults and $19 for children, and included in Niagara Parks’ bundled passes. Officials including Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming, and Bob Gale, Chair of Niagara Parks, praised the attraction for its innovative storytelling and its potential to boost tourism and the local economy.
