
The German capital Berlin received the ‘City of the Year’ award last night in London at the 2024 Food and Travel Awards gala. The award recognises the greatest cultural and culinary diversity among cities across Europe. Burkhard Kieker, CEO of visitBerlin: ‘The world’s leading gastronomic travel magazine “Food and Travel” has honoured Berlin as “City of the Year”. We are delighted that the readers have recognised Berlin’s creative scene. The title shows that food has now become a real reason to travel.’
The bimonthly publication ‘Food and Travel’ by British editor Gregor Rankin has enjoyed great international recognition for 25 years now. In each issue, it takes its readers on a new culinary journey. And once a year, they vote for the best restaurants, chefs, hotels, destinations, tour operators, cruise lines and airlines, among other things. The best from the world of gastronomy, wine and travel is regularly honoured in a total of 23 categories. The award for Berlin was accepted by Harald Henning, Director of the German National Tourist Board in the UK and Ireland.
