ITB Berlin and IPK International: Asia and South America report highest outbound growth – Tour holidays are making a comeback – Outlook for 2019 remains positive – ITB Berlin publishes the latest findings of the World Travel Monitor® exclusively in January 2019. 2018 has been a strong year for the tourism industry, which has registered uninterrupted growth in international trips around the world. In the first eight months of 2018 international outbound trips grew by six per cent worldwide, with Asia and South America recording the highest increases. According to the findings of the first trend analysis of the World Travel Monitor® by IPK International, the outlook for 2019 also remains positive.

Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province in China, is offering a 144-hours Transit Visa Free to the holders of 53 foreign countries from 1 January 2019, as part of the city’s plan to boost its development as an international destination for tourists. This was announced by Ms Duoyang Namu, Director General of Chengdu Municipal Tourism Administration, at the official opening of the 6th Chengdu International Tourism Expo (CITE) 2018 being staged at the Century City New International Exhibition Center.
