The hotel project pipelines of individual cities are often indicative of larger trends throughout the regions in which they are located.Indeed, this certainly seems to be the case right now with the hotel market in Doha, which is located in Qatar and is perhaps telling about the ongoing hospitality boom that is currently taking place in the Middle East market. In fact, we recently looked at a project pipeline report from the TOPHOTELCONSTRUCTION database, and what we found was a healthy and robust set of new projects in Doha.
A quick look at the numbers from the TOPHOTELCONSTRUCTION database report is quite telling. First and foremost among the information available via the database report is that 42 projects currently in Doha’s pipeline, and once they are completed they stand poised to yield a grand total of 11,964 new rooms for guests. This is, quite obviously, a pretty significant number for the city located in Qatar along the coastline of the Arabian Gulf.
In addition, the numbers from the TOPHOTELCONSTRUCTION database report also show that a whopping 45 percent of the projects currently in the pipeline are currently under construction, which perhaps also explains why the largest number of hotel segment projects are slated to open next year in 2019.
Finally, the last key bit of information here is that 52 percent of the projects in Doha’s pipeline are classified as luxury while 48 percent are ranked as first class. This all bodes quite well for the Middle Eastern market in general.
While Doha is not the most prominent city in that region—that honor goes to the booming oasis of Dubai—it is indeed quite prominent. Essentially, all signs seem to indicate a bright future for the hotel business both in Doha and in the Middle Eastern region writ large.
