DUBAI’S NEW WINTER CAMPAIGN
True to the motto “Summer is not a season, it’s a destination. #StaySunny.”, Dubai’s current winter campaign puts the spotlight on its advantage of being able to offer sunshine and a summer feeling in the European winter as well. The campaign was launched in September and positions Dubai as an ideal winter destination. The campaign focuses on the Emirate’s beautiful beaches, which also invite visitors to bathe in the mild water temperatures at Christmas time. But also, the numerous amusement parks, outdoor and cultural activities as well as culinary highlights are presented in the campaign. The campaign will be launched in 23 European markets and marketed cross-media via YouTube, Social Channels (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) and online banners.
DUBAI FITNESS CHALLENGE
From October 26th to 24th November 2018, Dubai will once again call for 30 minutes activities on 30 days when the Dubai Fitness Challenge enters its second round. With the fitness initiative of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, the Emirate wants to become the most active city in the world. The aim is to be active for 30 days with 30 minutes sports of e.g. with tug-of-war, football, yoga, cycling or group fitness classes. Last year, 786,000 inhabitants of all ages and fitness levels took part in the challenge. This year, more than one million people are expected to take part.

Dubai Design Week
From 12th to 17th November 2018, Dubai Design Week is attracting creative minds to the Emirate for the fourth time. With more than 120 participating companies and 230 events, the largest creative festival in the region provides a colorful variety and will thus be the most comprehensive edition to date. Dubai Design Week 2018 has grown by 20% compared to the previous year. Visitors can enjoy exhibitions, commissioned installations, awards and competitions, lectures and workshops, tours and other experiences for design enthusiasts.

German pavilion on the Expo 2020
Germany presented its pavilion concept for Expo 2020 Dubai. The pavilion’s theme is called “Campus Germany”. Germany will invest 50 million euros in its participation in Expo 2020. The 4,500 m2 site will be one of the largest of the participating nations on the site. The organizers of the pavilion would like to offer each visitor a very personal, interactive experience while at the same time presenting the latest scientific and technological innovations of the country. In the “Welcome Hall” of Campus Deutschland, there will be a large pit with 155,000 balls. Each ball presents a sustainability champion from Germany or tells its own story about sustainability.

Top marks for Dubai in Mastercard Global Destination Cities Index 2018
Dubai remains the fourth most visited city in the world in the Mastercard’s Global Destination Cities Index (GDCI) 2018 for the fourth consecutive year. Last year, the city welcomed 15.79 million overnight guests. For 2018, too, there are signs of growth: in the first half of 2018 alone, Dubai reported 8.1 million overnight guests, of which 302,000 came from Germany, 33,278 from Austria and 55,698 from Switzerland.

Work on the Al Marmoom Reserve is taking shape: The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has completed the electrical connections and installation of smart meters for four projects, an electric vehicle charging station and a Manarati Smart Pole. These milestones are part of the plan to make the nature reserve for plants, animals, native and migratory birds the UAE’s largest ecological tourism destination, attracting one million visitors a year. The Al Marmoom Reserve is also home to the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar project in the world with a planned total output of 5,000 MW by 2030.
