In cooperation with China, the Mekong Tourism Forum, the BITE in Beijing, the CITE in Chengdu, the WITE in Wuhan, the MITM in Santo Domingo and the ITE HCMC in Vietnam, the TourismMultiMedia competition “The Golden Citygate” takes place as an innovative expression of the tourism industry since 2001 as part of the ITB Berlin, the international travel trade show.
For the 17th time, the international tourism film competition “THE GOLDEN CITYGATE” will be presented at the next ITB from 6 to 11 March 2018.
By request of the submitters, the following categories have been added for the 2018th edition:
Print: For city, -hotel and -country campaigns;
Music: For music video clips from and / or about a country;
Websites: Website appearance, Banner Advertising, Applications

LGTB Award
China Travel Award

President of the jury is Wolfgang Jo Huschert – Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Film and AV Producers eV. The international industry service “Tourism-Insider” is once more the media partner of the film festival and editor-in-chief Joachim Fischer has assumed the role of the press spokesman.
The Honorary President has been Regine Sixt. The UNWTO with her new general secretary S.E. Zurab Pololikashvili have already announced their support.

Furthermore, the Mekong Tourism Forum will be a strategic partner and award its own prize in the context of the competition to support the Asian market.

The valuation of the submitted films is made by an international expert jury according to the following criteria: visual performance, acoustic overall impression, emotional effect, information value, conception and creativity. The top-ranked entries in each category will be awarded with the CITYGATE in Gold, Silver and Bronze. The VIP jury will also select the best film of the year from the premiere entries. The winner will be awarded with the “Diamond Award”.
The expert jury consists of specialists in the specific fields of tourism, film, public relations and public institutions. The careful selection of the jurors guarantees a professional and broad range of experience for the professional and objective valuation.

The categories: City tourism, city, town, architecture, country, region, landscape, economy, airline, airport, harbor, cruise, ferry, car rental, invest, travel insurance, ecology, tourist events and events, incentives, hotel, wellness, spa, TV travel magazine, travel documentaries, tourism spots up to 90 seconds, print campaigns, advertising, brochures, tourism websites, innovation and information on alternative electronic media.

Following the ITB, the films will also be shown outside of the competition during further assignments e.g. video on demand, press, tradeshows, cinemas and TV. This results in numerous new contacts. There are also publications on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.

THE GOLDEN CITYGATE is an international multimedia competition for the tourism industry and offers a platform to present films and other multimedia contributions.
Participating countries, cities, municipalities, economic regions, hotels, hotel chains, airports, shipping companies, agencies and event agencies, travel insurances and music and film productions have the rare opportunity to show their films, print contributions or music clips to an interested audience and valuate them through an international specialist jury in Düsseldorf and Berlin during the leading tourism trade show in the world – ITB.

Show artist Award:
The coveted artist award will once more be presented during the show on ITB in March 2018. After the success of the event in 2017, artists, show acts and live performers who want to recommend themselves for MICE events are invited to apply for this prize and thus also present themselves to the many organizers in the audience.

For the 17th time, THE GOLDEN CITYGATE will take place from 6 to 11 March 2018 during the ITB Berlin on the fairground. The worldwide renowned Diamond Award will also be awarded to the best of the best of all entries in all categories of 2018. The award ceremony will take place on March 8th, 2018 with guests from all over the world.
