Voyages-sncf.com opts for innovations and secures its position as European market leader in e-tourism
Voyages-sncf.com consolidated its position as the most important actor on the European e-tourism market in 2015 with an overall turnover of 4.32 billion Euros. Out of France, Voyages-sncf.com made a turnover of 763 million Euro – an increase of 6% compared to the year before. 2016 Voyages-sncf.com is offering new digital services in order to foster its development in Europe, especially in Germany.
Franck Gervais, CEO of Voyages-sncf.com: “In order to secure our position as European market leader in the sale of train tickets, we opt more and more for Smart Tourism: we accompany our clients digitally during their journey and create a pleasant travel experience and a constant and transparent process. Traveling becomes easier – the client can travel spontaneously and completely concentrate on their impressions.”
Constant growth in 2015 due to activity all over Europe
Apart from France, Germany is Europe’s biggest market for train tickets. Over the last two years, 41% Germans travelled to France , 29% of them took the train. Experts say, 55% of the Germans spend their summer holiday abroad, spending 2,468 Euro on average. Overall, they spent more than 68.8 billion Euro in 2015. This is why Germany holds a key position in the European strategy of the group, especially with regard to new investments in technology and marketing.
20 employees are working in Germany for Voyages-sncf.com – in sales offices, but also in contact with tourist offices and travel agencies. Germany and France being geographically close together, the new high speed line between the two countries and the new line between Strasburg and Paris do clearly speak for the strategy of Voyages-scnf.com and underline the attraction of its offer.
On Voyages-sncf.com, not only tickets for trips with the Thalys between Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and France are available, but also journeys with the Eurostar to London (via Bruxelles) as well as the joint offer of ICE/TGV: It connects ten German cities (Augsburg, Baden-Baden, Frankfurt, Kaiserslautern, Karlsruhe, Mannheim, München, Saarbrücken, Stuttgart, Ulm) with Paris. Also, TGV-lines in France and further transportation offers of SNCF, iDTGV, Ouigo and Ouibus can be booked on Voyages-sncf.com.
Travelling quickly without interruption and making great experiences
One of the strengths of Voyages-sncf.com is the mobile “M-Ticket” that can be downloaded via the app V. In Europe, the number of tickets sold via the app went up 142% compared to the year before. Altogether, the app was downloaded more than 13 million times in Europe.
Currently, in July 2016, Voyages-sncf.com is further developing its app, in order to make it even more easy to use. From now on, the app disposes of a price calendar, showing the most attractive tickets for a travel destination in a one month period.
Corresponding to the great number of German tourists in France, the new service “Mon Voyage” will be also available in Germany: The digital service offer accompanies clients from the moment of booking until the train takes off – and even further. The personalized area can be accessed by computer, smartphone or tablet on the website of Voyages-sncf.com. Thanks to Mon Voyage customers can get advice in real time and always have an overview of the important aspects of their journey.
