During his visit to Germany, the Mexican Tourism Minister, Enrique de la Madrid, met airberlin Chief Commercial Officer, Julio Rodriguez. Mexico is becoming increasingly important in the route network of Germany’s second largest airline. The premium airline has therefore expanded its schedule for the coming season. Mexico has long been a popular destination for German tourists, offering a wide range of activities to suit all tastes.
“airberlin flies comfort-conscious passengers non-stop from Germany to Mexico several times a week. Our aim is to consolidate our position in the premium tourism segment in Mexico in future. We will finish fitting our full-flat Business Class seats across the entire long-haul fleet and increase the number of XL seats in Economy Class this summer, making us even more attractive as a premium airline for discerning holidaymakers to Mexico”, said airberlin Chief Commercial Officer, Julio Rodriguez.
“Together with airberlin, we’re improving the tourist offering in Mexico, with Cancun as the hub from where visitors can access the Mayan world in the areas of Quintana Roo, Yucatan, Campeche, Chiapas and Tabasco. The neighbouring countries of Guatemala, Honduras, Belize and El Salvador are also readily accessible via Cancun and waiting to be discovered. As a holiday destination, we boast idyllic Caribbean beaches, along with a variety of activities for holidaymakers interested in culture, nature and sport”, said the Tourism Minister during the meeting.
Mexico is primarily known for its varied excursions focussing on the Mayan culture, along with a wide range of adventure sports such as climbing and rafting, for example. Mexico is also home to assorted flora and fauna and is one of the world’s most naturally diverse countries. During the summer, airberlin flights depart at 8:50 am every Monday and Saturday from Dusseldorf to Cancun. Starting with the winter schedule, there will be an additional service from Dusseldorf to Cancun on Wednesdays. Feeder flights are available from many airports in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and benefit from short transit times.
