15 years of the Golden City Gate. 50 years of ITB Berlin.
In 2016 “The Golden City Gate” receives an additional category: The “Show Entertainment Award”. This category is to represent the needs of shows and entertainment for the MICE industry. And furthermore, in the upcoming 50th edition of the world´s leading travel trade show – ITB Berlin- the Multimedia Competition will be expanded to include an award for Performing Arts.
The vision of Wolfgang Jo Huschert, to offer a creative platform for the international tourism industry, especially for marketing managers of countries, hotels and towns went on. The content and innovation, the synergies, tolerance and creativity which is provided by the international tourism film- print and Multimedia Competition for destinations and the tourism industry is not measurable in market value and advertising budget. The Golden City Gate in this form is an absolutely unique event in the whole world.
The large ITB Cinema Show Stage
The first TV station which reported about the competition was the BBC. After that CNN, the Deutsche Welle DM-Sat and several renowned newspapers also reported about the competition. In the past 14 years, 1,288 entries were judged by the international jury which changes annually. These 45 jury members cover different fields of activity like culture, business or public service in the tourism industry. They award the Golden City Gate in bronze, silver and gold. The best film out of all categories will receive the Diamond Award. Till now 9 awards were handed over to different countries and companies like the Langham Hotels – Hong Kong, Dubai, Mexico, Bangladesh, Denmark, Malaysia-Sarawak, Tanzania and Berlin-Germany.
Dubai, represented by Sheikh Salah Al Geziry and Sheikh Eyad Ali Abdul Rahman as well as Mara Kaselitz were already honored two times on stage at the ITB Cinema. Mrs. Regina Sixt received 5 Golden City Gates for her image films for Sixt Car Rental.

The new category “Entertainment-Award”:
This category is presenting the MICE-business (Meeting, Incentive, Conferences, Events) for hotels and destinations on stage at the ITB-Cinema. Organizers and buyers (MICE BUYER) are invited to see the selected performers on stage. The show will include bands, singings, acrobatic show as well as the entire spectrum of performing arts to let you enjoy the ITB show days.
The final show and the award ceremony will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 4pm on stage at the ITB-Cinema.
