To mark Mexico Year 2016 in Germany, airberlin and the Mexican Tourist Office in Germany have launched a joint sales and marketing initiative for the first time. Their common objective is to encourage more Germans to take their holidays in Mexico, and particularly in Cancún, the gateway to the Mayan World. Germany’s second largest airline has been operating flights to the coastal city on the Yucatán Peninsula since 2012, and has been able to increase capacity by 30 percent since adding the route to its schedule.

The non-stop flights depart several times a week from Dusseldorf and Munich. The joint campaign includes poster advertising and digital outdoor screens in and around Dusseldorf, a website and joint fact-finding trips for promoters. Dr Tade Peters, Vice President Marketing at airberlin, and Patricia Eversbusch Rebora, Director of the Mexican Tourist Office in Germany, sealed the partnership with a handshake.
