The Diplomatic Council (DC) has elected as new President Her Excellency Mrs. Nongnuth Phetcharatana, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Federal Republic of Germany. The festive inauguration took place at the historic Villa Rothschild during the ALL NATIONS Summer Celebrations. As the youngest member of the Presidents’ Office of the Diplomatic Council she will share the responsibility of global activities the think tank carries out.
The Diplomatic Council is registered with the UN and – despite being lead by ambassadors from around the world – representatives from the fields of economy, culture, art, sports and society are welcome members as well.

H.E. Ambassador Nongnuth Phetcharatana was voted “Ambassador of the Year” by the Diplomatic Magazine in 2014. This was the first step in becoming a member of the Diplomatic Council’s Presidents’ Office: DM Editor Dr. Irene Ernst is part of the small circle of members with a right to nominate new members of the Diplomatic Council’s Presidents’ Office.

Since June 2012, the new DC President has been accredited as the Ambassador of Thailand in Germany. Before this assignment she was Ambassador of Thailand in Austria, Slovakia and Slovenia. As a Permanent Representative she represented Thailand in notable organizations such as the International Atomic Energy Agency, which on a regular basis reports to the UN general Assembly and the UN Security Council. She furthermore acted as Permanent Representative of Thailand to the UN Industrial Development Organization and the UN Organization for Security and Co-Operation in Europe (OSCE). H.E. Ambassador Nongnuth Phetcharatana is the author of several acclaimed publications, i.e. “The U.S. Foreign Aid Factor in Thai Development” and “Thai-U.S. Relations: Forging a New Partnership in the 21st Centrury”.

To honor her globally successful commitment, H.E. Ambassador Nongnuth Phetcharatana has received numerous awards, the Diplomatic Council’s new President, and carries the title of “Knight Grand Cordon (Special & First Class) of the Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant” and “Knight Grand Cross (First Class) of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand”.
