An online public survey held on low cost carriers (LCC) found among its 1,787 respondents in the past twelve months, 39.48% “have not” flied LCC, 34.42% “once” and 26.1% (a) “twice or more”; and 87.74% interested in offers by LCC in the next ITE & MICE, Hong Kong’s annual international travel fair. They survey only invited those public visitors of ITE & MICE who flied at least once in past year, and found among all respondents 43.19% flied “two to three times” and 33.13% “four times or more”, or 76.32% (b) flied “twice or more”.
On comparing the above mentioned (a) and (b) by “flied twice or more” (or 26.1% against 76.32%), frequent fliers in all respondents outnumber LCC fliers by more than two times, so are using more full service carriers!
The survey also covers various factors for choosing LCC and full services carriers etc. Its findings, confirm common beliefs as, for examples, more travelers respectively choose LCC for “Attractive price” and full service carriers for “Safety” and “punctuality”!
Last held in June this year, ITE & MICE drew 12308 visitors (26% from abroad) in two trade days and 75300 visitors in two public days; featured 650 exhibitors from around 50 countries; and highlighted themes of Overseas Wedding, Sport Tourism and Cruise etc.
Public visitors of ITE & MICE are frequent travelers. In fact, respectively 58.7% traveled “2 to 4 times” and 15.8% “5 times or more” in the past twelve months; and 83% prefer traveling in FIT (non-package tours) or private tour groups.
In ITE & MICE, trade and public visitors are segregated such as requiring business cards for registration and a much higher admission cost in trade days; and allowing retail sale, round the clock cultural performances and Grand Lucky Draw only in public days.
The next ITE & MICE, which co-locates the 29th ITE and the 10th ITE MICE, will be held from June 11 to 14, 2015 at Halls 1A to 1E of the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. In response to strong interest, the Travel Expo will have a new highlight of “Airlines / LCC” with program include seminar, special displays and likely special offers by some exhibitors.
Organized by TKS Exhibition Services Ltd, ITE & MICE is supported by China National Tourism Administration, Hong Kong Tourism Board, Macau Government Tourist Office and Hong Kong Travel Industry Council etc. For details, please visit www.itehk.com or send email to travel@tkshk.com.
