The 19th East Mediterranean International Travel and Tourism Exhibition, EMITT, will introduce congress and outdoor sports to its agenda for the first time in 2015. The event will take place on 22-25 January 2015 at the Tuyap Expocentre in Istanbul, Turkey. EMITT is the largest travel trade exhibition in Turkey. The 2014 edition attracted over 4,000 companies from 70 countries and regions, and welcomed over 91,000 visitors.
New to EMITT 2015 will be congress tourism, an area designed to allow event services providers, such as: international event organisers, hotels and congress centres, a platform to introduce their offerings to Turkey’s MICE tourism buyers.
Hacer Aydin, EMITT Event Director, comments: “Congress tourism is of growing importance in Turkey. Currently Turkey ranks 14th in Europe and 23rd worldwide in terms of congress tourism – 159 international companies operate in this sector.”
Aydin further stated: “There is great potential for MICE tourism to flourish in Turkey, especially in the cities of Istanbul and Antalya where the infrastructure, culture and geography is ideal of business tourism.”
In addition, an outdoor and nature sport area will also join EMITT. The area will be included in the winter tourism hall. Both domestic and international facility providers of outdoor sports and recreation will showcase their range of tourism attractions. Services to be on display include: canoeing, trekking, bungee jumping, water sports, caravan destinations, snowboarding, skydiving and much more.
The EMITT event provides an interactive business platform for professionals from a range of travel sectors, including: luxury, MICE, medical and travel technology.
