Kobkarn Wattanavrangku, who was appointed on saturday and will join the Cabinet of Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, heads Toshiba Thailand. She is active in business, education, arts and culture, according to a brief biography online, and known to be anti-corruption. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, she and her husband,former Phuket Police Commander Major General Chonsit Wadhnawarangkun have two children.
Thailand’s new Tourism and Sport Minister is a highly-regarded businesswoman who knows the tourism and the country.
Thailand’s last Tourism and Sport Minister, Somsak Pureesrisak, drove the process under which tourists’ complaints to honorary consuls and ambassadors were investigated and acted upon. He and pop star Rihanna shared the Phuketwan Phuket Person of the Year Award for 2013.
Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, chairperson of Toshiba Thailand, said the government should take as its priority the development of people through education to help the country’s sustainable growth. People quality should be strategically improved so they will be able to compete with other countries.

She said the government should continue with both the Bt2-trillion infrastructure and logistics and Bt350-billion water management projects. However, such projects should be transparently managed and of good quality.
“They [the government] should also pay attention to strengthening the local agricultural sector to ensure it is more efficient and systematic,” said Kobkarn. She gave the example of China, which set its national vision to become the kitchen of the world.

Kobkarn Wattanavarangkul, chairwoman of Toshiba (Thailand) Co, agrees sports marketing can help boost sales and brand awareness. “Sports is something that everybody in a family can get involved with. We can communicate with customers, provide information and easily link them to our brand,” she said.

Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul is very well known als a powerful lady, working and leading a team and she will bring a new glance into the Thai Tourism. With new tourism projects and full of ideas the new Minister will check every department in sports and tourism of Thailand and will improve the situation and marketing.
