JERUSALEM PLACED NO. 4 IN TRIPADVISOR’S 2013 TRAVELERS’ CHOICE™ AWARDS FOR DESTINATIONS ON THE RISE.
Jerusalem was ranked fourth in TripAdvisor’s 2013 Travelers’ Choice™ Awards for Destinations on the Rise. The world’s largest travel site awards several citations every year and this particular award highlights 54 spots globally that have seen the greatest increase in positive traveler feedback and traveler interest, year-over-year.
Havana, Cuba was the number one ranked destination for the top 10 in the world, with La Fortuna de San Carlos in Coasta Rica and Kathmandu in Nepal taking the second and third spots. Jerusalem was the only destination in the Middle East to make the top ten ranking.

The TripAdvisor citation for Jerusalem offers this explanation of the city’s allure “Religious pilgrims have been traveling to Jerusalem for centuries, yet you don’t have to share their zeal in order to appreciate this city’s profound cultural and historical significance. Plan on seeing the major sights, but also leave plenty of time to walk through the streets and simply immerse yourself in the daily life of such an ancient and revered place.”

TripAdvisor offers readers a three day itinerary for Jerusalem, noting that “Jerusalem is full of significant historical, religious and educational sites, and three days is just enough time to get to know the most important of them.”

The top 10 rated sites for Jerusalem on TripAdvisor at the time of writing are Yad Vashem, Israel Museum, Old City, Western Wall Tunnels, Western Wall, Hezekiah’s Tunnel, Garden Tomb, Biblical Zoo, Mount of Olives and the Jewish Quarter.
