“Definitely Dubai“ – Definitely a Diamond
The “Diamond Award“ winner from the “The Golden City Gate“ at the ITB Berlin has now also been awarded with the “The Grand Prix CIFFT“ in Vienna. Wolfgang Jo Huschert: “In spring 2013 our jury set the course for this success at the ITB Berlin.“
Since 2001 the Tourism Media Award “The Golden City Gate” is annually awarded at the ITB Cinema in Berlin. In this competition film-, print-, online- and multimedia productions that support and promote the marketing of touristic offers are being honored. “The Golden City Gate” considers itself as a presentation platform of the whole tourism industry as well as of the travel business.
In addition to the standard categories the initiators of “The Golden City Gate” regularly choose the very best film of all categories to be awarded with the “Diamond Award”. In 2013 the international jury decided to honor the film “Definitely Dubai” with this special award.

The price was handed over during the ITB, in the ITB Cinema, to Eyad Abdul Rahman (Executive Director of Business Development and Media Relations) accompanied by Saleh Al Geziry (Director Overseas Promotions and Inward Missions), Abdullah Bin Suwaidab (Deputy Director Overseas Promotions & Inward Missions), Maria Kaselitz (Director of the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing Germany) and to Moza Buti Al Youha Al Mehairi (Director of Media & Advertising).
“Definitely Dubai“ was now awarded for the second time with an internationally renowned price in Vienna. In the beginning of November the members of CIFFT (Comité International des Festivals du Film Touristique) – the International Committee of 16 Tourism Film Festivals – met in the framework of the 25th anniversary to celebrate the “best of the best“ of the year 2013. The Grand Prix CIFFT went to “Definitely Dubai“.
Wolfgang Jo Huschert, President of “The Golden City Gate“: “The decision of the CIFFT jury confirms the work of our judges, that have already handed over the ‘Diamond Award’ to ‘Definitely Dubai’ in the beginning of the year in the ITB Cinema. This production is an excellent example of how audiovisual marketing channels can be served by emotionalization and professional realization, that are on the one hand informative and entertaining for travelers, on the other hand they provide sustainable impulses to the tourism industry. As a member of CIFFT, ‘The Golden City Gate’ welcomes the jury’s decision and congratulates the clients and film makers from Dubai to this great achievement.”

During the CIFFT-meeting in Vienna there have also been made important settings for the future course of the “network of the most prestigious festivals for tourism film“. The committee will expand its activities to Middle and Eastern Europe and is holding talks with the organizers of the tourism film festival in BAKU, Azerbaijan.

Huschert: “Highly publicized tourism competitions like ‘The Golden City Gate‘ as well as the strong community within the CIFFT-Circuit support and accompany the touristic development worldwide. Also in the case of the price winning film ‘Definitely Dubai’ we expect a long-lasting impact on the marketing of this destination. This success will finally benefit all involved parties.”

The call for entries for “The Golden City Gate” 2014 has already started – entries can be submitted until January 31th, 2014. The award ceremony is on March 6th, 2014 during the ITB Berlin.
