The Golden Bridge – a future icon in recognition of Sarawak’s 50th Golden Jubilee Year, is set to be a potential unique venue for cocktail parties and themed events for that value-added experience Sarawak has to offer.
Kuching city can look forward to the construction of the Golden Bridge that is hoped to further encourage integration between communities on both sides of Sarawak River. Recently launched by Sarawak Chief Minister, the project is due to be completed by the end of 2015.
Named Golden Bridge in recognition of Sarawak’s 50th Golden Jubilee Year of independence from British rule, it measures 400m long and looms 12m above the water. The bridge spans across Sarawak River from the DUN Complex (State Legislative Assembly Building) in the north, to the Charles Brooke Memorial near the iconic Kuching Waterfront viewing tower in the South.

The S-shape structural design was inspired by the meandering rivers in the state and will soon be a potential unique venue for cocktail parties and themed events for that added-value experience.

Moreover, visitors to Kuching can expect to cruise in style with the launch of the Catamaran Cruise, with a capacity of 75 that will ferry tourists or convention delegates to the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK). Locals have commuted via river transportation in their daily activities, and the State hopes to promote this to tourists as well. An alternative mode of transport for convention delegates to BCCK, the boat would also take tourists who wish to visit Medan Niaga Satok at Kubah Ria or for locals to hold events or receptions onboard – an experience like no other!
