Drawn by a stellar showcase of elite automobiles, wealthy car enthusiasts from all over China converge in Sanya on March 30th to April 2nd for the annual Hainan Rendez-Vous lifestyle show. The supercar collection at this year’s event includes McLaren’s captivating new model P1, the rare Aston Martin One-77, and extraordinary vehicles by Rolls Royce, Bentley and Lamborghini.
Many visitors, including members of China’s supercar clubs, are bringing their own vehicles to show off as well, and lucky guests will get to test drive some of the amazing speed machines on display.
Show organisers are honoured that McLaren has chosen Hainan Rendez-Vous 2013 to exhibit its cars for the first time ever in China. The marque is bringing both its ground-breaking new gas-electric hybrid, the P1, as well as its famed 12C Spider.
The McLaren P1 production model was unveiled to the world for the first time just this month at the Geneva Auto Show, and Chinese millionaires hoping to buy one should know that it won’t be easy. According to recent media reports, the carmaker is only producing 375 of the cars, and it already has double that number of people asking to buy it.
No easier to purchase at this year’s Hainan Rendez-Vous will be the Aston Martin One-77, so named because only 77 of the vehicles exist. The classic Aston Martin DB5 driven in the early James Bond movies will also be on display, along with the stylish Aston Martin Vanquish and Rapide models.
The inimitable cool elegance of the Rolls Royce Ghost and Rolls Royce Phantom is certain to draw the attention of show visitors. Bentley will display its two-door coupé, the GT Speed, as well as the Bentley Flying Spur and Bentley Mulsanne — each famous for the special mix of power, comfort and ingenuity that defines the brand. Lamborghini will exhibit its Gallardo at Hainan Rendez-Vous 2013, a car that never fails to electrify the crowds.
Show organisers say they wanted to strengthen the automobile experience at Hainan Rendez-Vous this year, and this is reflected in the introduction of supercar test drives. Guests with sincere interest in a particular vehicle can schedule a time with the brand’s manager to take it for a spin. Test drives will depart from a designated area near the show’s main entrance gate.
Automobile culture at this year’s Hainan Rendez-Vous is also enhanced by a larger representation of China’s supercar clubs. The South China Sports Car Club, based in Guangzhou, and the Chengdu-based Highway 19 Club will together have more than 100 members at the show.
