Chief Executive Officer of the Melbourne Convention + Visitors Bureau (MCVB), Karen Bolinger, has today announced changes to its representation in North America and offices in Asia.
In North America, Myriad Marketing will replace Mondotels who have represented Melbourne in a sales capacity for the past 14 years. The appointment will see two dedicated Melbourne resources working within Myriad Marketing to build on the good work that has been done by Mondotels.

The landmark 20th anniversary of IT&CMA and 15th anniversary of CTW Asia-Pacific, held from 2 to 4 October 2012, was underlined by an air of celebration as delegates descended upon Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld Bangkok, for business, education and networking opportunities.
Held across 5,800 sqm of exhibition space, it featured some 16,500 business appointments between 325 Exhibiting Companies and 497 MICE Buyers and Corporate Travel Managers.

As per 1 January 2013 Mats Jacobsson (49) will assume the position of Senior Vice President Distribution. In his new role he will be reporting to Paul Gregorowitsch, CCO airberlin. His new responsibilities will include the airberlin group’s service centers, customer service as well as the overall distribution channel strategy. He is succeeding Thorsten Scherzer who, after his twelve year long-lasting successful career at airberlin,
has decided to leave the company and to accept new professional challenges outside of the airberlin group.

Mats Jacobsson holds a degree in Business Administration and Economics and has gained experience in the airline industry for more than 20 years now. He has been working for airberlin since 2007, the past three years as Vice President International Sales.

The position of Vice President International Sales will not be staffed anymore. Otto Gergye, Senior Vice President Sales Scheduled Services, will assume direct responsibility of international area management as per January 2013.

Fly direct from Kota Kinabalu to Shanghai on Malaysia Airlines twice weekly from 11 December 2012.Malaysia Airlines flight MH394 will depart Kota Kinabalu on Tuesdays and Fridays at 8.20pm and arrive Shanghai at 12.45am the next day. The inbound flight MH395 will depart Shanghai on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 1.45am and arrive Kota Kinabalu at 6.25am.
In addition to the exciting news on Shanghai, Malaysia Airlines has increased direct connectivity between Kota Kinabalu and Hong Kong with two more weekly flights since 1 December 2012 and will soon re-introduce international connectivity from the Sabah capital to Perth on 9 December 2012 and to Osaka on 20 December 2012.

Hilton Worldwide today signed a management agreement with Travellers International Hotel Group Inc. to manage Hilton Manila in Newport City in Manila, the capital city of the Philippines. The agreement will bring the first Hilton Hotels & Resorts hotel to Manila. Scheduled to open in 2014, the 350-room Hilton Manila is located on Newport Boulevard next to Terminal 3 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and is 3.5 kilometers away from Manila’s central business district, Makati.
