According to the latest PATA news, destinations in the ASEAN bloc remain remarkably popular for Chinese visitors. With a year-on-year 27% growth rate, arrivals from China accounted over 10% of total international arrivals to ASEAN during the first six months of 2012, making it the second largest source market behind Singapore.
In volume terms, Thailand and Singapore topped the destinations chart by individually attracting approximately one million Chinese arrivals during the period. Faster rates of growth, however, were reported by Philippines (+43%) and Lao PDR (+40%), albeit off relatively small numeric bases.
