JONAS SCHUERMANN, GENERAL MANAGER AT MANDARIN ORIENTAL, HONG KONG RECEIVES THE ‘SWISS STAR ABROAD’ AWARD FROM THE PRESTIGIOUS, ‘GAULT MILLAU’ GUIDE
General Manager of the legendary hotel, Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, Jonas Schuermann, has been voted as this year’s “Star Abroad” by the jury of the prestigious Swiss guide “Gault Millau” .
“He left Egerkingen, then discovered and conquered Asia as a hotel professional,” states the “Gault Millau”. ‘Today, Jonas A. Schuermann leads, “with great success”, Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, with its 830 employees’, explains the jury in its justification for the distinction that it has awarded to one of the most successful hotel managers in Asia.
Mr. Schuermann joined the iconic Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong in September 2009. In his capacity, Mr. Schuermann oversees the management of one of the city’s leading luxury hotels that is also Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s flagship hotel. The iconic hotel is home to 501 guestrooms and ten outstanding restaurants and bars – three of which boast Michelin stars, along with an award-winning Mandarin Spa.
Mr. Schuermann has held senior management positions with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group for more than 19 years and has over 35 years’ of hospitality industry experience worldwide. Prior to joining Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, Mr. Schuermann was General Manager of the award-winning Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur and Mandarin Oriental, Macau. He was also member of the management team at the Group’s renowned property in Thailand, Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok. A Swiss national, Mr. Schuermann graduated from the Hotel Management School in Belvoirpark, Zurich, Switzerland.
