Tell me a little bit about the history of the hotel
Eriko Fujie:Dusit Thani Bangkok was inspired by King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) who imagined a utopian society which he called Dusit Thani, meaning “Town in Heaven”. This heavenly concept is the base of the Dusit DNA for everything we do today from our attention to details to our warm and genuine smiles.
The hotel was founded in 1970, before the dawn of Thailand’s booming tourism industry, by Thanpuying Chanut Piyaoui, who was determined to create a hotel to match the standards of leading international hotels, but with a distinctly Thai charm and hospitality.
In this time which VIP’s stayed in your hotel?
Eriko Fujie:During the 42 years since the hotel opened its doors, we have welcomed several notable local and international celebrities as well as royal families. Among the extensive list of celebrity guests are Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, Tom Jones, Whitney Houston and Marat Safin. Recently, we welcomed some more local and regional celebrities from Korea, Thailand and Japan.

Eriko Fujie:We have 517 rooms including our Executive Suites and signature Thai Heritage Suites.
How many staff you have?
Eriko Fujie:We have a total of 673 professional and dedicated staff.
From where are your guests?
Our guests come from all over the world. Our highest visiting guest’s nationalities are from Japan, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, USA, UK, Germany etc., We also have many local Thai visitors who frequently come to enjoy the excellent dining facilities and social events.
What are they doing here?
Eriko Fujie:We have guests coming for a variety of reasons including weddings, meetings, conferences and other celebrations. Guests and international delegates often return to enjoy our comprehensive, world-class and hassle-free services and facilities.
Do you have MICE facilities?
Eriko Fujie:The hotel’s Grand Gala events are among the most celebrated in Bangkok. The Napalai Ballroom has a capacity of 1,200 people and is the ideal venue for large conferences, seminars and exhibitions. In addition, we have 10 versatile meeting rooms suitable for more intimate gatherings that can be utilized for additional meetings or breakout space. Our meeting centre comprises a total of six boardrooms and meeting rooms equipped with state of the art audio visual equipment. A team of professional coordinators are on call 24 hours a day to help each business achieve optimal results.

You have a MICE or teambuilding programme?
Eriko Fujie:We have just launched our latest meetings program “ MICE 360” which provides all-round meeting and events solutions to our guests. We have every option available from activities and lunches to partner programs, themed dinners and team building. No other hotel in Bangkok is better positioned to meet these challenges with such creativity. We’re very much at the forefront in providing meeting solutions to simplify the process of choosing the venue for the organizer.
Which of your (how many) restaurants you like?
Eriko Fujie:We have 8 signature restaurants for guests to choose from. On the top floor, D’Sens is known as one of the best French restaurants in Bangkok, while on the Lower Lobby level we have The Mayflower, which is famous for its unsurpassed Cantonese Cuisine. We also have traditional Italian fare on the menu at il cielo, Royal Thai cuisine at Benjarong, premium steaks and grills at Hamilton’s Steak House, authentic Vietnamese cuisine at Thien Duong and international all-day dining available at The Pavilion.
What is your secret in the hotel?

What is your secret for Bangkok?
Eriko Fujie: To maximize your time in Bangkok and avoid the traffic we recommend that guests use the BTS or MRT transport systems. The network will take you to most major destinations in the city and the hotel is conveniently located with both BTS and MRT at its door.

Eriko Fujie oversees all Sales and Marketing activities within the hotel and leads the department towards achieving strategic and competitive goals.
Before joining Dusit International, Eriko gained valuable industry experience at a hotel in Japan. Since then, she has returned to Thailand to impart her experience and expertise at Dusit International, where she has dedicated the last 16 years. Eriko has held several senior positions including Sales Manager of Dusit Hotels and Resorts and Associate Director of Sales and Marketing at Dusit Thani Bangkok before being promoted to her current position. She has also played a key role as the Director of Sales & Marketing in the new launch and development of dusitD2 baraquda pattaya, Dusit International’s second hotel of the dusitD2 modern and chic lifestyle brand, catering for the new generation of luxury traveller.
