Let the Fun Begin!
The MEET TAIWAN CARD, which benefits event and business travelers to Taiwan, marks its third anniversary this year. In 2010 alone, 12,000 cards were issued to event and business travelers from over 60 countries, while the card’s extensive service coverage has pushed user satisfaction to 93.5%.
Today the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) released the new and improved MEET TAIWAN CARD in a press conference today. The newest version of the MEET TAIWAN CARD has integrated functions of the Easy Card and hot smart phone applications that offer special deals, shop information, GPS service, a taxi guide, and links to social media recommendations. With its diverse and innovative services, the MEET TAIWAN CARD has taken Taiwan to a new level in the meeting, incentive, convention, and exhibition (MICE) industry while driving sales for local businesses in Taiwan.

Because businesspeople and professionals frequently download information through smart phone apps, the new MEET TAIWAN CARD comes with a smart phone app through which cardholders can view card information and access information on discounts in dining, shopping, accommodation, leisure, entertainment, and transportation, and logistics services in Taiwan. For example, in dining there are special offers from Wow Prime Group restaurants, the Regent F & B, and so on; in shopping, from retailers such as Hankyu, Eslite Bookstore, and Ever Rich Duty Free Shop; in accommodation, from W Taipei and the Regent Taipei, and so on, in transportation and logistics services, from DHL, China Airlines, City Taxi etc.; in leisure and entertainment, from the Taipei 101 Observatory and various six-star spas and massage service providers. The MEET TAIWAN CARD has expanded its coverage by 200%, from 160 shops and companies to 322 this year, to offer the best services and quality to each holder.
The MEET TAIWAN CARD Application, with its GPS function, will help cardholders find information on shops offering discounts, thereby fostering a friendlier environment for event and business travelers new to Taiwan. To bridge the communication barrier between overseas business travelers and local taxi drivers, a taxi guide function has been incorporated in the MEET TAIWAN CARD Application. A cardholder simply needs to show the taxi drivers his/her destination via the application. The social media sharing function also gives consumers tips on the reviews of certain retailers or shops, so that travelers get an idea of the places they may like. Furthermore, with the smart phone application, cardholders will be able to check-in, comment on, press the “like” button, or post comments on social media such as Facebook and Twitter.
The new MEET TAIWAN CARD Application has brought services closer to users. To further provide directions about special deals, the MEET TAIWAN CSRD Application has also incorporated the QR Code function. Whether cardholders have downloaded the application or not, they will be able to scan the MEET TAIWAN CARD QR Code to gain access to information on discounts and deals offered by shops and retailers.
Besides the MEET TAIWAN CARD Application, the new MEET TAIWAN CARD includes the functions of the Easy Card. Cardholders are thus freed from the trouble of buying pre-paid tickets or single tickets when taking the Taipei Metro. The contactless card function offers a convenient consumer experience as users only need to scan their cards to a sensor to have the fare deducted from the remaining balance on the card. The combination of the MEET TAIWAN CARD and Easy Card marks a new era of convenience for event and business travelers.
BOFT points out that the MEET TAIWAN CARD Application enables cardholders to access information in a smarter way, so that event and business travelers will enjoy their trips to Taiwan more. Issuance of the MEET TAIWAN CARD has boosted Taiwan’s image and visibility in the global community. Since it is combined with a smart phone app, the MEET TAIWAN CARD is also environmentally friendly as it reduces the use of paper to print tour guides. As a result, Taiwan’s determination in promoting a green MICE industry is made more visible. For more information about the MEET TAIWAN CARD please visit http://www.meettaiwan.taptin.com/home
