Flooding, earthquakes, global warming-all of these have destroyed property and taken lives in Thailand and affecting people the world over. To address these urgent issues, Save Our Planet 5 (SOP 5), organized by Asean Affairs, co-hosted by Thailand’s Board of Investment (BOI) and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) as co-organiser, will be held at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok, 17 November 2011 in conjunction with the BOI Fair (10-25 Nov 2011) expected to attract 5million visitors.

The fifth Save Our Planet full day conference on the 17th November, 2011 at the Grand Diamond ballroom, Hall 9 at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani, will be opened by Bangkok Governor Mom Rajawong Sukhumbhand Paribatra. He will also deliver the main keynote address. The conference is expected to be covered by six TV networks as well as local and international media.

Launched in early 2010 by Swarup Roy, Founder and Chairman of AseanAffairs and Save Our Planet series, this chapter in the ongoing series seeks to enlighten Thai people and focus on environmental issues in Thailand. The theme of Save Our Planet 5 is “Air-Water-Earth.”

Fauzi Bowo, Governor of Jakarta, is a special invited guest. Jakarta is the other Atlantis City of Southeast Asia projected to be underwater by 2025. Perhaps Save Our Planet conferences can help Bangkok and Jakarta to join forces to tackle their huge environmental problems.

Topics to be covered include: “Solar, Wind, Renewable sources of Energy” -Reality Vs Viability, Bangkok the New Atlantis, Health Impact from Air Pollution “Water for People Partnership” and Sustainable Food Production in Thailand.
Panel discussions will focus on, “Is Water the New Oil?” and “How can people protect their Air, Food and Water?”

Students from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration participating in Save Our Planet for Schools will present the voice of children on Saving the Planet. There are more than 400 schools under BMA.
