Oliver Barda new executive chef at the andel’s Hotel Berlin
On 1 October, Oliver Barda, previously at the Hotel Adlon Kempinski in Berlin, took up his position as executive chef at the 4-star superior design hotel andel’s Berlin. Together with his chef de cuisine and the entire kitchen team, Oliver Barda is set to reinterpret the cuisine of the andel’s Hotel Berlin.
The 39-year-old native of Lüneburg in northern Germany already has 24 years of experience and can boast with the best references from renowned hotel restaurants in Germany, Switzerland and Slovenia. Several of his stints were at hotels of the Kempinski Group: the Hotel Adlon and Hotel Bristol in Berlin, the Hotel Atlantic in Hamburg, Schloss Reinhartshausen in Eltville-Frankfurt, the Grand Hotel des Bains in St. Moritz, and the Palace Portoroz in Slovenia. Barda also served as executive chef of the restaurant at the Park Hotel Vitznau at Lake Lucerne, which earned 16 Gault Millau points, as well as two further restaurants at the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz. His past employers also include the Maritim Seehotel Timmendorfer Strand (one Michelin star) as well as the cruise ships MS Berlin and AIDA vita.

As a top-class gourmet chef, Oliver Barda is in good company at the andel’s Hotel Berlin with chef de cuisine Sascha Friedrichs. The two support the modern interpretation of the classic French gourmet cuisine. The focus of Barda’s culinary creations is on fresh, regional, seasonal and organic products, combined with Asian influences. “I place special emphasis on the naturalness of the individual products, which I innovate and intensify with international delicacies, herbs and spices,” says Barda.

The passionate Harley Davidson rider is excited about his start at the andel’s Hotel Berlin and is optimistic about the future: “The andel’s Hotel Berlin has with five restaurant areas the right quality, size and potential to aim for high gourmet goals.” His plans are to not only take his guests, but also the 40-member kitchen team on an inspiring culinary journey.
